New data is in, and it confirms what many automotive enthusiasts already suspected: America's love affair with neutral car colors continues. A recent study by Axalta, a leading global supplier of automotive coatings, reveals that white remains the reigning champion of car colors in the United States for 2025. A substantial 29% of new car buyers opted for white. Think about it: almost a third of all new cars on the road are painted the same, safe color.
But here's where it gets controversial... Is this simply a matter of personal preference, or does it reflect a deeper trend towards conformity and risk aversion? Some argue that neutral colors hold their value better upon resale, making them a financially sound choice. And this is the part most people miss... While neutral colors still rule the roost, there are glimmers of hope for those who crave vibrancy. Across the globe, bolder hues are slowly gaining traction.
In Asia, yellow and gold finishes saw a 6% increase, green rose by 3%, and orange and purple each climbed by 2%. In the US, red, brown/beige, green, and yellow/gold all experienced modest but consistent gains compared to the previous year.
