We mourn the passing of Miles Ludlow Carpenter, who left us on January 7, 2026, with heavy hearts. His journey began in Oakville, New Brunswick, where he was born, and he was raised in the nearby town of Marysville. As the son of the late Perley and Rheta (Wilkinson), Miles carried with him a sense of roots and community from an early age.
After graduating from Fredericton High School, Miles pursued higher education at the University of South Florida in Tampa, earning his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). His academic achievements laid the foundation for a career that initially took him into public service with the provincial government in New Brunswick, where he was dedicated to contributing to the betterment of his community.
In 1972, a significant chapter of his life began when he met his future wife, Fernande (Robichaud). Their connection blossomed quickly, and just a few months after their first date, they tied the knot. Together, they shared 48 beautiful years filled with love, partnership, and shared commitments, until Fernande’s passing five years ago. Their marriage was marked not only by love but also by a shared dedication to community service—church involvement, volunteering, and active participation in various organizations.
Miles’s community engagement extended beyond his family and work; he was deeply involved in scouting, the Knights of Columbus, and numerous committees and groups that reflected his compassionate and service-oriented nature. Upon retiring from his government role, Miles established a consulting firm, which gave him more flexibility to pursue his passion for genealogy and community work. His dedication to tracing the Carpenter family history led him to write two books and coordinate multiple family reunions, helping to strengthen bonds across generations.
His hobbies reveal a man who truly loved the outdoors and craftsmanship—gardening, fishing, hunting, reading, woodworking, and simply spending time outdoors brought him immense joy. Yet, above all, his greatest pride and happiness came from being with his family—especially his beloved wife and grandsons.
He is survived by his children, Michelle (Brent) Dore and Jamie (Jennifer) Carpenter; grandsons Jake (Alyssa) Dore and Riley (Robyn) Dore; great-granddaughters Oaklynn, Vallie, and Daphne; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who carry forward his legacy. Miles was predeceased by his parents, wife, and brothers Johnny, Murray, and Terry. He also mourned the loss of his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Onesime and Gertrude Robichaud, along with many extended family members.
The family will hold visitation on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 1 to 4 PM at Bishop’s Funeral Home located at 540 Woodstock Road. A funeral service will take place on Monday, January 12, at 11 AM at Holy Family Parish Church, 1500 Hanwell Road, officiated by Father Bill Brennan. A private burial will follow at a later time, honoring his wishes.
In remembrance, heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff at Dixon York Care, where Miles spent the last three challenging years. The family kindly requests that donations be directed toward a charity of the donor’s choosing in Miles’s memory, as a tribute to his generous spirit and lifelong dedication to service.
