A man's life hangs in the balance after a terrifying water surge incident! Kuala Lumpur's Fire and Rescue Department is urgently seeking the public's help in locating a missing individual. The man, unfortunately, was swept away by a sudden surge of water in the Sungai Klang river, near Pintasan Saloma, on Monday afternoon. But here's where it gets even more alarming...
The victim, an employee engaged in pipe upgrading work, was attempting to move his vehicle beneath a bridge when the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. A total of 13 individuals, including anglers and workers, were caught beneath the bridge as the water surged. Thankfully, 12 of them managed to escape, but the fate of the 13th person remains unknown.
The search operation, led by the Dang Wangi district police chief, commenced immediately but was halted at 11 p.m. due to safety concerns. It will resume on Tuesday morning, with a dedicated team of police, firefighters, and agency personnel determined to find the missing man.
And this is the part that raises questions: Could this incident have been prevented? Were there adequate safety measures in place for workers near the river?
