Growing up in the DMV area—encompassing Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia—Scott’s roots were deeply embedded in a region that shaped her character and fueled her ambition. From playing in neighborhood courts across Montgomery and Prince George’s County to attending schools that nurtured her talent, her journey was anything but ordinary. And this is the part most people miss: it wasn’t just her athleticism that propelled her forward, but the lessons she absorbed from every corner of the DMV, from foster care in Silver Spring to the suburbs of Bowie and the city life of Washington, D.C.
Her high school years at Bishop McNamara in Forestville, Maryland, were transformative. ‘McNamara truly accepted me for who I was,’ Scott says. ‘They didn’t just develop me as a player; they helped raise me as a person. I’m forever grateful for that.’ It was here that basketball shifted from a hobby to a career worth pursuing.
But here’s where it gets controversial: despite her deep love for the DMV, Scott chose to attend the University of Mississippi—a decision that raised eyebrows. With a degree in psychology and sports administration, Scott’s love for youth and athletics inspired her to create the Madison Scott Basketball Foundation, a non-profit camp for kids in grades three to eight.
