GWM's upcoming Tank 300 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model promises to maintain its renowned 4x4 capabilities, joining the lineup alongside diesel, petrol, and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) variants next year. This new addition is a testament to GWM's commitment to offering diverse powertrain options across its range. The Tank 300 PHEV will be a top-tier model, priced above the current HEV version, which starts at $53,990. With a focus on off-road performance, the PHEV variant retains a true mechanical four-wheel-drive system, complete with a low-range transfer case and locking differentials, ensuring it remains a genuine off-road SUV. The powertrain technology is shared with the larger Tank 500 and Canon Alpha ute, featuring a 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with a large 37.1kWh battery and electric motor, delivering an impressive 300kW/750Nm and a pure-electric range of over 100km. The Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV offers a braked towing capacity of up to 3 tonnes and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing owners to power external equipment and tools directly from the vehicle. This expansion of the Hi4-T platform into the Tank 300 lineup showcases GWM's strategy of offering diverse powertrain options, now including petrol, diesel, hybrid, and PHEV across its range.
