In a surprising twist, the highly anticipated matchup between the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors will take place without two of basketball's star guards, Devin Booker and Stephen Curry. Both players have been officially ruled out for this exciting game that will be streamed exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, leaving fans eager to see how their teams will adapt.
Devin Booker, the Suns' standout player, has now missed seven consecutive games due to a right ankle sprain he sustained during a loss to the Atlanta Hawks on January 23. Despite his absence, he showcased his scoring prowess in his last performance by racking up 31 points while shooting an impressive 12-of-21 from the field.
On the other hand, Jalen Green is also facing uncertainty; he has been listed as questionable for the upcoming game due to managing a right hamstring issue along with a left hip contusion. This marks his third game missed after a hard fall on his back during a match against the Cleveland Cavaliers last Friday. So far this season, Green has participated in only five of the Suns' 51 games, averaging 11.6 points, shooting 43.5% from the field, along with contributing 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
As for Stephen Curry, the two-time NBA MVP will be sidelined for the second straight game due to a right knee injury. In the 39 games he has played this season, he has maintained an average of 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. Notably, Curry was involved in the previous three encounters between the Suns and Warriors, where the Suns managed to secure victories in two of those games while keeping Curry's shooting percentage under 50% each time.
Additionally, Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler remains unavailable after suffering a torn ACL on January 20. The blockbuster trade acquisition from last season had averaged 20 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists through 38 games before his injury.
Looking at the Warriors' injury list, Seth Curry is also out due to irritation of his left sciatic nerve, while Jonathan Kuminga will miss yet another game due to a left knee bone bruise. The younger Curry, who briefly played for the Suns during the 2014-15 season, is expected to be reevaluated in about two weeks and has started on-court workouts as part of his recovery. Meanwhile, Kuminga is facing his sixth consecutive absence and has only seen action in 20 games this season due to ongoing knee and ankle issues.
L.J. Cryer is currently listed as questionable, dealing with a left hamstring management issue. The undrafted rookie has participated in three games, all within January, totaling just eight minutes of playtime.
Fans can catch the Suns-Warriors game live at 8 p.m. on Arizona Sports radio station 98.7 or through the Arizona Sports app.
