A chilling situation has unfolded in Madison, Wisconsin, as Morgan Geyser, one of the individuals involved in the infamous Slender Man stabbing case, is now on the run. Geyser, who was convicted in the 2014 attack, has removed her GPS monitoring device and left her group home. This news has sent ripples of concern through the community.
According to the Madison police, Geyser was last seen on Saturday at approximately 8 p.m. near Kroncke Drive. She was reportedly with an adult acquaintance. To recap, in 2014, Geyser and Anissa Weier were responsible for a horrific act. They nearly took the life of their classmate, Payton Leutner, by stabbing her 19 times. Following the incident, Geyser was placed in a group home this year after being conditionally released from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute.
The Leutner family has also released a statement, with a spokesperson saying, "Payton and her family are safe and are working closely with local law enforcement to ensure their continued safety. The family would like to thank all of the law enforcement entities involved in the efforts to apprehend Morgan. The Leutner family also wish to thank the outpouring of support from family, friends, and well-wishers who have contacted them during this difficult time."
Geyser's attorney, Tony Cotton, posted a video on Instagram in response to the news. In the video, he urged Geyser to turn herself in immediately. He stated, "We don't know any of the facts about what happened, or who might have assisted her, but certainly if there is somebody who has assisted her that person will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law." Cotton also requested that anyone who has been in contact with Geyser contact the police as soon as possible.
