Hanukkah, or Chanukah, is a festival of light typically observed in December, and the JLC's statement reflects a sense of despair and anger: "We are devastated and outraged that Jews in Sydney appear to have been targeted simply for their faith."
They continue, "We are acutely aware that such hatred is not confined to Australia; we are still reeling from the attack on a Manchester synagogue during Yom Kippur.
